Assassins is a show filled with historical characters who killed or tried to kill American Presidents. Although the audience does not sympathize with the intentions of these characters, they do come to understand why they made provocative choices. As a theatrical piece, this show can be unsettling. As a musical, it breaks all the rules. There are no happy endings here. Instead, we see the reverse side of the American
dream.
