The consensus of the experts is that, along with being one of Shakespeare's funniest plays, "A Midsummer Night's Dream" is perhaps his only truly original plot. The Players haven't done Shakespeare often (actually, unless you consider "Kiss Me, Kate" or "Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead" Shakespearian, that would be... never.) But David does excellent Shakespearean productions for other groups on a regular basis and The Players are more than up to the task of providing stunning staging for this wonderful romp through the Grecian woods.

Audition information:
All roles are open. Note that Puck may be played by either a male or a female. Speaking roles are open to those 17+ (though if you are younger but look 17, we'll certainly consider you).
In addition to the speaking parts, we're hoping to add several dancers, to play fairies flitting here and there; these dance roles are open to anyone, male or female, 11 years of age and older.
All apeaking auditions will be by cold reads from the script. Those auditioning for a dance part should prepare a 1-2 minute dance, & bring both the music and a player (we can't guarantee we'll have a tape deck and/or CD player, though we'll attempt to get those). We're looking for ballet-style, though we're open to other types of dance too (there might even be sections for tap--but that's to be determined later).
Rehearsals & performances will be at Upper Merion Area High School; some rehearsals may be at Upper Merion Area Middle School. Performances are scheduled for April 23, 24, 25, & 26 (matinee on the 26). We may add three more performances on May 1, 2, & 3; this has not yet been finalized.
On December 1st, auditions will be held at Shannondell Performing Arts Theatre from 1:00 to 5:00. These will be by appointment only, in small groups. Auditions will last one hour per group.
On December 3rd & 4th, auditions will be held at Upper Merion Area High School between 7:30 and 10:30. On December 3rd, audtions will be by appointment only, in small groups, and will last one hour. On December 4th the auditions are completely open; no appointment is necessary. However, there is no guarantee that you will be finished within an hour.
